Understanding Senior Strength Training

Strength training (resistance training) helps seniors maintain muscle mass, bone density, balance, and metabolic health. Muscle mass declines 3-8% per decade after age 30 without training.

Loss of muscle (sarcopenia) is a major cause of falls, frailty, and loss of independence. Strength training can reverse muscle loss at any age, even in 90-year-olds.
