Connect, Laugh, and Enjoy Great Company

There’s something magical about gathering with friends over good food and drink. At All Seniors Foundation, we understand that meaningful social connections are just as important as physical health—and that’s why we’re excited to invite you to our Senior Social Hour: Drinks & Snacks event. This is your chance to step away from the everyday routine, meet wonderful people, and enjoy an afternoon filled with laughter, conversation, and delicious refreshments.

Why Social Connection Matters

As we age, maintaining social connections becomes increasingly important—yet it can also become more challenging. Retirement, changes in mobility, the loss of loved ones, and other life transitions can sometimes lead to feelings of isolation. Research consistently shows that strong social ties are linked to better mental health, improved cognitive function, and even longer life expectancy.

At our Senior Social Hour, we create a warm, welcoming space where you can forge new friendships and strengthen existing ones. Whether you’re naturally outgoing or a bit more reserved, you’ll find a comfortable environment where everyone is valued and included.

What to Expect at Senior Social Hour

From the moment you walk through our doors at 16101 Ventura Blvd in Encino, you’ll be greeted with smiling faces and a welcoming atmosphere. Our dedicated volunteers and staff are committed to making sure every guest feels comfortable and included.

Delicious Refreshments: We’ve curated a wonderful selection of beverages and snacks for you to enjoy. Our refreshment table features:

  • Fresh-brewed coffee and a variety of teas
  • Refreshing lemonade and fruit-infused water
  • An assortment of finger sandwiches and savory bites
  • Fresh fruit and vegetable platters
  • Homemade cookies and sweet treats
  • Cheese and crackers

We accommodate various dietary needs, including sugar-free and low-sodium options. If you have specific dietary restrictions, please let us know when you arrive, and we’ll be happy to point you toward suitable choices.

Comfortable Seating: Our venue is arranged with plenty of comfortable seating options, including cozy conversation areas where small groups can chat, as well as larger tables for those who enjoy being part of bigger discussions. We’ve designed the space to encourage natural conversation flow while ensuring everyone has a comfortable place to sit.

Relaxed Atmosphere: Unlike structured programs or classes, our Social Hour is intentionally casual. There’s no agenda, no schedule to follow, and no pressure to participate in any particular activity. Simply come as you are, grab a refreshment, and enjoy the company of others.

Activities and Entertainment

While the main focus of our Social Hour is conversation and connection, we also provide optional activities for those who enjoy them:

Card Games: Several tables are set up with classic card games like Bridge, Rummy, and Canasta. Whether you’re a seasoned player or want to learn, you’re welcome to join in or start a new game.

Board Games: We have a selection of popular board games available, from Scrabble and Chess to more casual options. Games are a wonderful way to break the ice and get to know new people.

Puzzles: For those who enjoy a quieter activity, we always have jigsaw puzzles in progress. Feel free to add a few pieces while chatting with fellow puzzlers.

Music: Soft background music from the golden era creates a pleasant ambiance. We often feature hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s that bring back wonderful memories and spark conversations about the good old days.

The Benefits of Regular Social Engagement

Attending events like our Senior Social Hour offers numerous benefits for your overall well-being:

Reduced Feelings of Loneliness: Regular social interaction helps combat the isolation that many seniors experience. Having a standing social event to look forward to can make a significant difference in your weekly routine.

Mental Stimulation: Engaging in conversations, playing games, and meeting new people keeps your mind active and sharp. Social interaction has been shown to support cognitive health and may help reduce the risk of dementia.

Emotional Support: Building friendships means having people who understand what you’re going through. Whether you want to share life experiences, seek advice, or simply have someone to laugh with, social connections provide invaluable emotional support.

Sense of Purpose: Being part of a community gives life meaning. When you have friends who look forward to seeing you, it creates a sense of belonging and purpose that contributes to overall happiness.

Physical Health Benefits: Studies have shown that socially active seniors tend to have lower blood pressure, reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, and stronger immune systems. The simple act of getting out, dressing up, and attending a social event can have positive effects on your physical health.

Perfect for Everyone

Our Senior Social Hour welcomes all seniors, regardless of background or circumstance:

  • New to the area and looking to make friends
  • Recently retired and seeking social opportunities
  • Caregivers who need a relaxing break
  • Long-time community members who want to stay connected
  • Anyone who enjoys good conversation and company

We especially encourage those who may be hesitant about attending social events. Our friendly atmosphere and welcoming volunteers make it easy for even the shyest guests to feel at home. Many of our regular attendees started out feeling nervous about coming alone—and now they’re the ones greeting newcomers and making introductions!

Bring a Friend or Come Alone

Whether you have a friend who’d like to join you or you’re coming solo, you’re equally welcome. Many lasting friendships have formed at our Social Hours between people who arrived not knowing anyone. Our volunteers are skilled at facilitating introductions and helping guests find common ground with others.

If you’re bringing a friend, wonderful! If you’re coming alone, even better—you’re about to make new friends.

No RSVP Required

One of the things our guests love about Senior Social Hour is the flexibility. There’s no need to register or RSVP—simply show up when it’s convenient for you. Come at 2:00 PM when we open, drop by at 3:00 PM, or pop in whenever your schedule allows. Stay for the full two hours or just stop by for a quick visit. The choice is entirely yours.
